Factorise 5ph – 10qk + 2rph – 4qrk

(i) 5ph – 10qk + 2rph – 4qrk

(ii) x2 – x(a + 2b) + 2ab

Answer :

(i) 5ph – 10qk + 2rph – 4qrk

Re-arranging the given question we get,

5ph + 2rph – 10qk – 4qrk

Take out common in all terms,

ph(5 + 2r) – 2qk(5 + 2r)

(5 + 2r) (ph – 2qk)

(ii) x2 – x(a + 2b) + 2ab

x2 – x(a + 2b) + 2ab

Above question can be written as,

x2 – xa – 2xb + 2ab

Take out common in all terms,

x(x – a) – 2b(x – a)

(x – a) (x – 2b)
