Find the mean, median and mode.

Find the mean, median, and mode of the following distribution: 8, 10, 7, 6, 10, 11, 6, 13, 10

Solution:

Mean = \\ \frac { 8+10+7+6+10+11+6+13+10 }{ 2 }
= \\ \frac { 81 }{ 9 } = 9
Given nos. in ascending order are as follows:
6, 6, 7, 8, 10, 10, 10, 11, 13
Median = \\ \frac { n+1 }{ 2 } th term = \\ \frac { 9+1 }{ 2 } = 5th term = 10
Mode = 10 (having highest frequency 3 times)

Calculate the mean, the median and the mode of the following numbers : 3, 1, 5, 6, 3, 4, 5, 3, 7, 2

Solution:

Arranging in ascending order 1, 2, 3, 3, 3, 4, 5, 5, 6, 7
(i) Mean = \frac { \sum { { x }_{ i } } }{ n }
= \frac { 1+2+3+3+3+4+5+5+6+7 }{ 8 }
= \\ \frac { 39 }{ 10 }
= 3.9
